Back in Februrary Craig tried to demonstrate that he wrote the whitepaper by releasing an abstract of a Research paper called "BlackNet" that he supposedly wrote in 2001. The abstract he submitted was almost identical to that of the Bitcoin whitepaper released in October 2008. This was offered as proof that he was Satoshi Nakamoto. u/Skoopitup ably debunked Craig's lie here by observing there was a draft version of the Whitepaper predating the October version and corrections were made between the draft and the October version that are present in the Black Net abstract allegedly drafted in 2001.

So Craig's fraud attempt was exposed at the time. What I find interesting however were Eli's assurances that this document is legitimate and the Australian government has it on file, i.e.:

The Australian Government has this file from 2001. Check the abstract in this section. Have a good read and understand Bitcoin was a creation from a decade earlier than it's release. And Craig's name is on it.

Craig said he was going to release the papers... And here they come.

Or this tweet:

DYOR.

Ive personally verified the details in this with 2 individuals. One who is completely independent. And the other a former employee at DeMorgan.

You on the other hand, if you can be assed DYOR, need to wait for the court case with IRA when the file is dropped

These assurances are interesting because more recently an internet sleuth contacted the Australian government and was told in an e-mail from the Australian authorities that no BlackNet documents were ever submitted. This is all detailed here.
