Was Ethereum also shilled here before it took off?

Just a random thought that popped up in my mind. I see so many cryptos getting shilled here on daily basis like CKB, ADA, CRO, ATOM, CTSI, ERG, etc but way back when ETH was a rather new technology and nobody knew about it, was it also shilled here like the rest of the cryptos, and were there people who said it will fail? I joined this sub recently only last year and am constantly on the lookout for revolutionary cryptocurrencies and this made me curious about Ethereum and people's predictions on crypto and how accurate the shilling is!
