With the recent events of ABC and SV, it got me thinking about something. Why wasn't the 2017 BTC chain defended from the Core takeover? The miner consensus was to upgrade to 2MB, and it didn't happen because Core essentially said no. It's like Amaury and ABC saying "no" to the miners and forcing them to follow their protocol. That obviously didn't happen...
...so why did it happen with Core back in 2017? BU was ready with an implementation, and yet the miners submitted (and I do use that word strongly here) to the authority of Blockstream.
As much as I love BCH, it does feel in hindsight that the miners lost their bottle and the BCH chain was a result of that.
