I'm a strong Litcoin supporter and I'm also a software engineer.
I was looking at the Litcoin Github repository the other day:
And I saw that its latest commit was 5 months ago and his latest release, version
0.17.1, was 4 months ago, while Bitcoin's:
Latest commit was 2 hours ago and version
0.18.1 was released 1 month ago.
On the internet I learned how Litcoin and Bitcoin source codes are similar between each other, but still, for this reason, I cannot understand how they can be un-synced between each other. Wouldn't it be better to always have the latest and most updated code on the Litcoin branch in order to get all the bugfixes and improvements of the Bitcoin parent branch? I know that here and there there are a few personalizations in order to make Litecoin as it must work, but apart from that wouldn't it be possible still to update the source code more frequently?
I don't want to criticise the work done by the Litcoin development team, this question is out of curiosity.
P.S.: Are there any plans to make the source code of the iOS client, LoafWallet, available publicly? https://apps.apple.com/it/app/loafwallet-litecoin-wallet/id1119332592
