Imagine putting up a bond for someone who had a 20k bail (2k initial risk pending him showing up to court). BTC was around 3k coin. I forget the exact number.
He paid 10 BTC as collateral. I honestly thought it was a joke/scam, but he was a childhood friend, so I helped him out and trusted he'd show up for court. I got to keep the BTC regardless in the deal.
He showed up for court. I got the 2k cash back plus 10BTC that I forgot about after gambling 1.5 coins on some poker site. Remembered it when BTC blew up in the news and somehow still had how to access it saved in one of the safes. Ended up cashing out well before the ATH, around 34k. Turned out to be quite the deal lol. Never heard from the guy again after that court date.
If I only knew 1/4th about BTC when I cashed out that I do now, I'd of never even considered it. It was literally free coins.
Anyone else got some wild stories from the early days when no one knew what was to be of the BTC?
