I added Binance to my new phone's Google auth app using the long backup code but it says my six-digit auth code is wrong. Now I'm reading about the "change" or "reset" options in Binance, but they entail getting a new backup code. I don't want to write down and store a new backup code, and isn't the point of the backup code to be able to access Binance from a new device to begin with? Can't I just punch in the 16 digit code into Google Auth on anything and use it?
It also asked SMS verification when trying to log in from the new phone even though SMS verification is specifically disabled on my account. I live in a different country now with a different number and was just lucky that my old one hasn't still expired. Absolutely ludicrous.
