If you’re a bag holder like me who’s down 90% on their algo holdings but still believes in the project long-term, you can hodl and earn governance rewards at the same time. Here are a few ways to do this. I will not provide links as you can DYOR and this is not financial advice as I am simply pointing out available options you may use to participate in governance.

1 Vanilla Governance

• Commit to Governance through the traditional way through the Algorand foundations website, connecting your wallet and selecting how many algos you want to commit. Your wallet cannot go under the committed balance for the governance period (3 months) and you have to vote, or you will not get any rewards.

2 Defi Governance

• Can participate through Folks Finance by swapping your algos to galgos or xalgos. Either option lets you use the liquidity in your Algorand for other things if you desire, you can read up on their differences. You don’t have to worry about voting or committed balances, but voting is still an option if you want to.

• There may be other platforms but Folks Fincance is the biggest one for Period # 8 as Algofi is not doing governance this period.

3 Liquidity Pool Tokens

• If you are providing liquidity through liquidity pools on tinyman, pactfi, or others, you may have the option to commit these tokens to governance. Given the platform you use the option of committing to governance is different. DYOR

4 Node Consensus

• There are also ways to commit to governance if you are running consensus via a node. I believe you can do so through Folks Finance and there might be other ways.
