For the cryptoverse is dark and full of terrors; 3 years ago this list got 1.3k upvotes here on r/cc. It’s due for an update! Despite not being at an ATH, new coins and protocols are created daily, and innovation in the space is growing. What does UTXOs, L2's, and RFC-10 even mean? Most crypto veterans emphasize Doing Your Own Research (DYOR), but as with most things, it's easier said than done. So here's the updated curated list of useful crypto research tools - 2024 edition. The list is categorized for two types of long-term investors: fundamental (Set it and forget it HODLERS) and Data-oriented Investors. Set it and forget it HODLERSAs a set it and forget it hodler your best friend is fundamental research and crypto news. You also want to avoid the 'noise' of the daily market to make it easier to hold. 1 - Messari Sample of the Messari Rankings page which is a great starting point While Messari may look a bit intimidating at first, it makes crypto research incredibly easy once you're able to navigate the site. They have a crypto profile that shows you things like type (currency, privacy coin, smart-contract platform, etc.), consensus algorithm, inception, and a clear and concise description. They also have links to communities, white papers, codes, and research articles. It's not something you have to check all the time. It's particularly useful whenever you have to do some deep-dive research. Most features are paid nowadays compared to last time, but for a long term HODLER it is still worth it. 2 - Coinstats [NEW] CoinStats is an all-in-one crypto tracking app where you can track your portfolio of crypto, DeFi, and NFT assets in one place. You can turn on/off notifications on your portfolio returns, depending on if you dare to see what’s going on or not. IMO, this is the most easy to use app to track all your stuff. For the HODLER this is nice because it's all a no-fuss app. You also get access to a bonus suite of tools if you ever decide to take some profits after all! 3 - Kraken Intelligence Newsletter Sample of Kraken newsletter, Intelligence, formerly knows as Hash Again, as a long-term HODLER, you want to focus on the big news instead of what X billionaire has to say about crypto. You're talking regulations, milestones, and adoption. Kraken has a newsletter that aggregates the most relevant crypto headlines into a quickly readable format. They also have research reports about market recaps and other big events once a month or so. You can subscribe to them here. I also subscribe to the OTC report but that's for more technical discussions that may or may not be suited for long-term HODLING. Data-oriented InvestorsDespite crypto being a very young market, there's a lot to love about crypto market data. In my opinion, the data-oriented aspect of crypto is underrated. Contrary to what some might argue, there are tons of metrics and theories backed by a sufficient number of years, that make the cryptoverse a unique investing environment. For example, in its 14 year lifetime, crypto has been characterized by long-term bull and bear markets, each of them having less ROI and longer runs than the prior cycle. 1 - AlphaSquared [NEW] AlphaSquared's Risk Model (Orange) with Dynamic DCA strategy both in and out AlphaSquared is the king of risk metrics and Dynamic DCA. As a data oriented investor, getting data from literally every corner of the market analyzed by a risk model like this with ready to go DCA strategies paired with it is a gold mine. You can backtest DCA strategies based on their risk metric, forward-test scenarios and get notified of the risk. Bonus is the model for ETH as well, and I hear more are coming. The risk can be accessed for free with an 8 week delay here, and they have a free DCA Backtester using Risk here. Other stuff like strategies and notifications are paid, but honestly a steal. It can be hard to find stuff like this with a proven track record, so the performance of this the past 2+ years is very comforting. 2 - Glassnode Glassnode Studio, with a ton of on-chain metrics to dive into This is an on-chain market indicators site, with some free indicators for bitcoin. They have the Studio, a live on-chain data explorer with visualisations of the most fundamental on-chain metrics, Glassnode workbench, a comprehensive library of on-chain metrics, and Insights, contextualized reports and analyses drawn from on-chain data. They also have an academy where you can learn how to read all of these metrics and data. Like Kraken Intelligence, they also have a newsletter for technical discussions on major cryptocurrencies. Similar to messari, a lot of glassnode stuff is behind a paywall these days, but a ton of valuable things like the workbench is a must to try (it’s partly free). 3 - Lunarcrush [NEW] Lunarcrush workbench, with aggregated data from social platforms Last but not the least is Lunarcrush, a social media analytics platform. They provide insights, analyzes influencer trends, and help gauge the impact of social media on markets. Their platform has real-time social and market data that you can implement in your strategies. This is more for the advanced users who have algorithms and bots set up doing trading or investing. They have social stats and APIs to monitor keywords which is very interesting to get a feel for market sentiment which can be hard when you are in the middle of it. For BOTH data-oriented Investors AND set it and forget it HODLERS
That's all for this time around, see you in 2025! [link] [comments] |
