The U.S. Senate is beginning its final deliberations on a “must-pass” bipartisan infrastructure bill. However you feel about the bill, a few senators have included language having nothing to do with infrastructure – and this language could crush the crypto industry. If passed and signed into law, this bill would dramatically expand U.S. government surveillance over the entire crypto ecosystem.

Fortunately, Senators Wyden, Toomey and Lummis have introduced amendments that would fix the language and clarify that the expansion of the definition of a “broker” doesn’t apply to open source software developers or validators like miners or stakers.

Edit 2: While I'm happy this has gotten some attention I must admit for a sub with 3.3 mil subscribers, it's a little disappointing. Posts talking about Family guy & Peter griffins million dollar mistake somehow has more attention than this?

I realize not everyone here are US citizens and I also realize that the US is not the end all be all of crypto, far from it, however this is a huge issue that needs addressed.

So many comments with the "USA is just the next China" mentality.

And then who will be the next USA? Do you not see a problem or the start of a trend here?

Nobody is more important than anybody, but this needs to stop before it starts.

People are so blinded by the whole "not me, I'm not effected" mentality that you're part of the problem without realizing you're part of the problem. Don't rely on the guy that said he's gonna call to call, It is OUR responsibility to make sure we do everything we can to protect ourselves.
