Ok everyone's been doing the emotional support by telling newbies to hodl or buy more. That's cool. But to me BTC is not an investment, it is money + store of value (SoV). Companies (stocks) are investment. I invest in good companies with products that I use daily. I keep BTC as money as long term SoV. And I have a fiat job.
Now I don't sell BTC, but I do sell stocks; they are investments after all, meaning I will realize gains when I see fit. This is where I love BTC crashes. When I sell stocks, I have to pay capital gain taxes. When I use BTC for purchasing goods, it is treated as selling for fiat then buy with fiat. Thus, this can make capital gains/losses.
=> Whenever I buy with BTC, I use the BTC that I bought with higher price as my cost basis, thus realizing a loss. I then can use this loss to offset the gains from my investments. This allows me use BTC as money and SoV (never sell my BTC), invest in companies I believe in, and offset my taxes.
