Today is Pizza Day, which refers to May 22, 2010, when Laszlo Hanyecz had two pizzas delivered for which he paid 10K Bitcoins. This was the first commercial transaction with Bitcoin. In hindsight it was a costly one, given how much Bitcoin's price has increased in 13 years. But this is not news to you, of course. What is new is that today, Daniel Nita, a Romanian Twitter user, decided to celebrate Pizza day by buying 10K pizzas with 1 Bitcoin. He did that through Binance Pay. Daniel Tweeted about it today. He posted proof of the transaction. CZ of course liked this free promotion for Binance, so CZ replied: A lot of pizza has already arrived. I have no idea who is going to eat that all.... He even got a Guinness World Records certificate for most pizzas sold in 12 hours?! But im not sure if thats real lol Im not sure what to think of this, lol. On the one hand it is pretty epic to see how in 13 years Bitcoin went from 2 Pizzas for 10K Bitcoins to 10K pizzas for 1 Bitcoin. On the other hand, damn, 1 Bitcoin for Pizza? That's crazy! And why didnt he pay 2 Bitcoins then for comparability ???? [link] [comments] |
