Sry if it seems long I just need to vent
I live in a different country. I don't have the status here to get a local credit card. Because bitcoin is not widely accepted, having a credit card is essential for online payments in case of emercency. I have money to pay, but for some reason businesses are not interested by that. They are only interested in my ID.
Last time I tried to book a hotel. For some reason that transaction was deemed suspicious. My credit card got blocked.
No problem. I just have to call the bank, right? It's in my previous country. International call. So I filled up my phone minutes for one hour worth of my salary. That should be enough.
I make the phone call and wait: can't get them to call me back when they are ready because I am abroad. I wait 20 minutes to talk to a first representative, just to explain the problem. I get transfered to the security department to get my card unblocked. Wait another 40 minutes with elevator music. Then guess what. My phone minutes are expired.
So I have to go back to the store tomorrow --working hours only-- to purchase phone minutes again. Maybe if I put two hours worth of my salary it will be enough.
It's the third time this happens in two years. Every time they replace the card by a new one, and I get it mailed to relatives back home who send me a picture. I am afraid every time I have to make an online payment.
I feel I'm stuck in life because every day I have to jump through the hoops of some useless institution. It seems I hardly ever have time to focus on getting ahead.
Why can't anyone just accept bitcoin?
