Any advice you actually took from this sub?

All Cryptocurrencies

This year, crypto firms have been falling like dominoes, and we were slapped with a glaring truth: no one knows shit about anything. Self-proclaimed gurus, notably those on YouTube, were caught off guard like the rest of us. Some of them not so discreetly deleted the videos they had shilled about UST and Luna. Others were more unscrupulous, actively encouraging their followers to invest in what turned out to be rug pulls.

Then, there’s the sharply divided debate that exists in crypto. Even the custodial rule of “not your keys, not your coins” can be quite controversial, depending on who you ask. Some people are eager to take their coins off all exchanges and secure them in cold storage. On the other hand, others point out how more coins are lost in self-custody than in exchanges because not many people can be trusted to remember their seed phrases, protect themselves from phishing scams, etc. Such contradictory opinions may make it difficult for one to make the best decision for himself/herself.

Due to all this, there’s a running joke that we should do the exact opposite of what this sub recommends. Which leads me to my question:

Was there a time when something someone posted or commented was instrumental in helping you make a crypto decision? That it aligned with the way your decision was leaning towards, be it a rational DYOR analysis or instinctive gut feel?
