I’ve recently learned of Machankura, a software tool that allows users to transact with bitcoin over the Lightning Network, a Bitcoin Layer 2 payment network, on pre-smartphone mobile devices (feature phones). Launched in South Africa, it enables the disenfranchised to access BTC from a mobile device without an internet connection. How absolutely wonderful & fascinating! Are there any of you that have or have tried or researched into this product, and what is your experience? Essentially having a cold wallet on you at all times which would make utilizing your coin for transactions much easier, no?
I love how the developer/creator, Kgothatso Ngako, has found a way to create a transaction platform that is mobile & user-friendly, enabling Africans to hold their own private keys, bringing them true financial self-sovereignty. Sure it is fee-based, but so is banking through an institution despite their gimmicks and ploys of “free checking” accounts. After all if you don’t maintain a minimum balance, you are charged for the access to use YOUR money????????♀️
Any feedback is treasured!
