Are honeypot scams still a thing?

I remember some scams that went like:

1. scammer holds some valuable tokens
2. scammer reveals their private key "by accident"
3. victims see the tokens, want to take them using the private key, but address has no eth to pay for gas
4. victim sends in some eth to pay for gas
5. scammer's bot immediately snatches eth away

Are these still a thing? If so, can you please show me some addresses where this took place or ideally is ongoing? I have some ideas on how to make scams like this much more difficult, but am not sure yet if they are applicable and if the problem actually still exists.
