Me and a business partner are working on a startup and we're a point where we need to raise some capital to keep going. Before we officially start pitching to VC firms or trying o get on those equity share funding sites I was wondering if ICOs actually matter much these days or if they're kinda dead in the water and or still nothing but scammssss. I get the United States me and my business partner would need to file more legal paperwork before we launch as those are considered securities but honestly it's w/e, can't be much more paperwork than selling off equity as is.
-update-
Yeah after discussion on here and looking at recent ICO drops I'm gonna say no to doing an ICO. the entire field is just way too scammy and we simply cannot and will not tarnish our brand this early on by having it look like some get rich quick scam like most ICOs are. I'm still semi open to the idea but unless we can find a suitable way to differentiate ourself within the space (especially since our company isn't focused 100% specifically on crypto) I'm not gonna bother. Thanks for the responses though
