Arguments against Bitcoin -- and responses

Am I missing any major arguments or responses?

It has no intrinsic value. Neither does gold.

It will never be used as currency. Neither will gold.

The only point of holding Bitcoin is to eventually exchange it for money that can be used to buy things in the real world. The same is true for gold.

That just means gold is useless too. Yeah, but people want to have places to store value that can't be devalued through inflation, and it makes sense that there would be digital as well as physical versions.

What if the current price is already inflated and demand for Bitcoin never grows enough to justify the current price? Then everyone holding Bitcoin will lose money, but they will still own an asset that protects against inflation similar to the way gold does.

What if Bitcoin is eventually overtaken by some other asset, such as one that is more resistant to decryption? Then everyone holding Bitcoin will lose money, but there doesn't seem to be a better digital contender at the moment.

So the best case scenario is that Bitcoin survives and is traded in quantities comparable to gold? Well, that would be a pretty great scenario for people holding Bitcoin, but the even better scenario is that governments back their currencies with Bitcoin similar to the way they used to back their currencies with gold.
