This will lower the trust assumptions inherent to the applications that require information about the Ethereum consensus state to function correctly, such as liquid staking protocols, restaking applications, smart contract bridges, #MEV mitigations and more. In a nutshell: This will allow signed voluntary exits to remain valid indefinitely instead of being valid only during the current and previous #Ethereum consensus layer fork versions, as it is now. This validity limit was initially made with consideration around the case of a very long, contentious fork from core devs. But the advantages and improved staking UX that this change enables outweigh this risk. This change aims to simplify and improve the staking user experience, particularly for users of delegated staking solutions, as well as opens up a new design space around automated validator exits. Author: Danny Ryan ???? In a nutshell: It will extend the maximum inclusion slot for attestations from 1 rolling epoch to 2 non-rolling epochs. With a current 32 slots to broadcast the attestation for inclusion on a given slot, under this upgrade, validators will now be able to attest to the slot in the current epoch, plus the complete subsequent epoch, meaning validators now have up to 64 slots to include attestations (and receive rewards for doing so). This EIP will allow faster confirmation times for each block and reducing latency for #Ethereum users. Also, it will make LMD-GHOST, an algorithm analyzing fork weights and choosing the canonical block, more robust against temporary censorship or coordination issues. EIP-7514: Add Max Epoch Churn Limit ???? eips.ethereum.org/EIPS/eip-7514 ???? Authors: Lion , Tim Beiko ???? In a nutshell: It is the one that was added the last, and the one that brought lots of discussions around its necessity to be added within this upgrade and the limit value. Following the Shapella upgrade, there was a high demand for staking that resulted in the fast growth in the number of validators on #Ethereum, which put additional pressure on the network's functioning and security. This proposal aims to mitigate the negative externalities of a high level of total $ETH supply staked before a proper solution is implemented. By limiting the epoch churn limit to 8 (how many validators can enter the chain and start staking), the time to reach critical milestones of total #ETH supply staked will be significantly delayed. ❕All these changes are on the horizon!
