The heated discussion over Recover continues on the Ledger forum. Topics include whether or not the company miscommunicated, if the implementation of the feature runs counter to 'self-custody', and whether or not the implementation of a key exfiltration mechanism introduces any new risks or attack surface, across the stack.

The new feature touches every component of the Ledger stack, from the Ledger hardware device, through Ledger Live, into webservices that orchestrate the process and end-points setup to proxy the information to third-party custodians.

"*Nothing* changes if you don't opt-in to the new service" was the often repeated mantra.

True or not, it is clear that the controversy continues and is having ripple effects outside and inside the company.
