Benchmarking insight request: Contractor compensation in the crypto industry?

This post is asking feedback from those investing in crypto for those working at / employed by crypto.

Let's say you've been offered an advisory consultant gig at one of the scores of big-ambitioned platforms with their own L1/L2 blockchain-protocol... and associated coin. Like most of them, it's been bankrolled by a founding whale enough to get traction and a community following doing projects on it. It promises to pay you a couple of hundred USDT a quarter and a myriad of its own currency at year-end that teeters wildly between below and above the one dollar-mark. There isn't much time for you to decide.

Looking back on all the engines burned and lessons learned, looking around now at what is the average fair remuneration in the field, and looking ahead to the way the economy is going, does this trigger any alarm bells, would you pounce on it, or negotiate? No one likes to sweat over a dangled carrot and show nothing for it empty-handed at the end; then again, mm, carrots are yummy..
