 | Hey guys! I'd like to share with you the progress my team and I made on the development of a crypto trading bot. We call it HitroBot (smart, cunning bot). First, let me cut to the chase and reveal the profitability of the bot. It trades on Binance Futures, so here is the Leaderboard page: *Ignore the `Last 12 months ROI` and `Yearly ROI`, it should be the same as `All ROI` Return on Investment is more than 100% for the last three months. I am thrilled with the result. How did we get this far? Spoiler: it wasn't easy. Well, it all started exactly one year ago, in the October 2020, when a group of friends and experienced software developers decided to create a program that would trade stocks for them. At first, we started to research various technical indicators, existing trading strategies and open source libraries that could help. Also, we started collecting real-time price data from a broker using API in order to backtest strategies on it later. So far it was going pretty easy. But after implementing several strategies from online articles and YouTube videos, we discovered that nothing actually works. The backtesting results show either inconsistent gains or only losses. That wasn't a complete surprise, but was a bit discouraging. Our goal was to come up with an algorithm that generates at least a +0.5% per day. But spending most of the evenings after our full-time engineering jobs for the next several months did not get us anywhere close to it. Although, we had built up a massive codebase and became more skilled in the topic by testing tens of different ideas that we came up with. Which helped us later on. We transitioned from stocks to crypto, as it is more volatile and the market is open 24/7. More testing and combining several ideas into one strategy finally began to show some promise. The backtesting results of yet another strategy turned out to be consistently profitable, even during a bear market! So we analyzed it and decided to stick with the algorithm, improve it and bring to life. We were pretty happy at that moment. So the final backtesting results can be found here. The robot was running on a real money account for three months now and since that we added more logic to improve the strategy. Also, we've added a feature that allows other people to easily use the robot in their Binance accounts. There is a documentation on how to connect and try HitroBot out. Several of our friends have been using the bot for a couple of months (early access you can say) and are pretty happy with the gains. The robot is fully automated, at least this was our goal for it to be able to work on its own while we play poker. It does everything automatically: chooses which pairs to trade, when to trade them and how. At the end let me share the gains for the October: It was a long journey.
