I tried deleting my account today to erase my personal information and inquired CS about how to. They told me there is no way to delete an account. I read their TOU and privacy policy and found these paragraphs :

  1. "If you do not agree to any such modifications, your only remedy is to terminate your usage of Binance Services and cancel your account. You agree that, unless otherwise expressly provided in these Terms, Binance will not be responsible for any modification or termination of Binance Services by you or any third party, or suspension or termination of your access to Binance Services."
  2. When you consent to our processing your personal information for a specified purpose, you may withdraw your consent at any time and we will stop any further processing of your data for that purpose. In addition, subject to applicable law, you have the right to request access to, correct, and delete your personal data, and to ask for data portability. You may also object to our processing of your personal data or ask that we restrict the processing of your personal data in certain instances. If you wish to do any of these things, please contact [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])."
  3. Our business changes constantly, and our Privacy Notice will change also. You should check our websites frequently to see recent changes. If you do not agree with the revised content, you shall stop accessing Binance immediately. When an updated version of the Privacy Policy is released, your continued access to Binance means that you agree to the updated content and agree to abide by the updated Privacy Policy. Unless stated otherwise, our current Privacy Notice applies to all information that we have about you and your account."

I tried explaining to the CS that I don't agree with the most recent TOU (modified on September 27th, 2021) All I get in response was "Sorry but we can't delete accounts." I was talking to the CS for 4 hours straight and it was going nowhere. So he/she passed me to his supervisor or something. This is the last conversation I had.

Me: CS Dune told me

if I disable my account, after 5 years, the personal info disappears

is that right? Or was that a lie

CS: There is no such a procedure

Me: So what is the only way to ensure that my personal info disappears as soon as possible?

It seems like there is not a single way?

You are saying that the personal info stays with Binance forever unless I terminate my account.

But terminating my account is impossible correct?

CS: Yes, Currently there is no such a procedure, unfortunately. I truly apologise for the inconvenience caused and appreciate with your understanding ????

I couldn't be shocked more. It feels like they deleted "delete" feature to keep the personal data forever. They have facial recognition for christ's sake. This has to be illegal by every data privacy law in the world. What do you guys think? What can we do about it?
