Just want to share this with you:
I am in El Salvador right now to see how the adoption is going here. Went to one of the large supermarkets here to get some groceries and asked the cashier whether I could pay with Bitcoin.
It took her a while to generate a QR code on the cash register. Finally, she presented me a Bitcoin address for an on-chain transaction. The software also provided the option to use Lightning but she was apparently not aware of the difference and my spanish is too bad to explain. So I paid on-chain with 20% in fees. Luckily she did not ask me to wait for the confirmation.
I randomly came across BIP21 this morning, which basically uses one QR-Code for both, on-chain and LN. The user no longer has to decide which option to use. This is imo one of the most important BIPs from an UX perspective.
