Anybody knows how bitcoin performs during recession? (Growth & global PMIs rolling over, not inflation)
To make a distinction, 2022 growth was strong but inflation was the issue hence the fed raised rates and sucked out liquidity
My thesis is that unlike equities, which get hurt on EPS downgrades when growth (top line) sinks, bitcoin - like other commodities auch as gold - will outperform because weaker growth will accelerate hopes of a fed pivot to lift the economy
Hence a recessin triggered by growth rolling over might increase liquidity , whereas inflation decreases liquidity on fed hike
So i think bitcoin, unlike equities, wont be hurt by recession (again growth not inflatiob) fear because bitcoin isnt earnings sensitive, while such a situation will accelerate hopes of a fed pivot (and pull forward timing of rate cut)
Anybody have a historical precedent that resembles this situation? And what do u think
This is main reason im reluctant to add equities but am willing to add bitcoin
