I would like to preface this by saying this is only for discussion and not intended as FUD. Maybe my analogies are even too far fetched.
The did not watch the video summary: So the talk guest here is suggesting a satoshi price tag as a collateral for online identities to prevent spam. The idea is that even a minimal price on scammy or spammy behavior significantly reduces said behavior. Acting out or spaming makes you forfit the deposit creating the need for additional collateral deposit.
I see two problems here:
It popped for me that from certain perspectives, you can replace bitcoin with CBDC in his talk, and it fits perfectly for a totalitarian regime where everywhere you go you need to pay a price.
Of course you can't confiscate anything but you can still ristrict various avenues whether online or offline by puting a price tag by governmental enforcement.
This guy is talking about anti spam measures but i think its still analogous to 15 minute cities and ESG incentives.
And on top of that, while restricting spam, it does not prevent the censorship of outspoken individuals that go against the common consensus.
Just a discussion. Is there any merit to this opinion? Will collateral incentives like this just fail? Will there be alternative platforms poping up? What do you think?
