Bitcoins Past, Present and Future?

Bitcoin first came into existence with the first block in January 2009 in response to the GFC of 2008, to make a decentralized alternative to the traditional financial system with a limited supply of 21million coins which would be resistant to the inflationary pressures in the traditional banking system with it money printing press.

My journey in Bitcoin has made me think about it`s origins, it`s aim and the idea of decentralisation it was born from.

I find it amazing that Bitcoin as the first has been so successful and resistant to the passage of time. Still by far holding the largest market cap and brand awareness of any crypto currency.

Some of the characteristics Bitcoin still have include it decentralised network of commuters, security, it`s scarcity and store of value, even allowing for the inflationary passage of time, as well as its accessibility for citizens all over the globe.

Satoshi Nakamoto`s vision of Peer to Peer Electronic cash hasn`t taken off, Bitcoin is viewed by many as digital gold and an investment rather than a decentralised currency for every day use, the fixed supply is likely to mean the currency will always have large fluctuations in price making it unworkable for everyday spending and attracting hoarding for capital gain.

The likely entry of traditional mainstream financial players and EFT funds is also likely to remove more of the original anonymous nature of Bitcoin, bringing further regulations combined with potential increased demand.
