The first decade of bitcoin between 2010 and 2020 was purely price discovery, speculation, proving out its store of value properties and ultimately building trust around the base layer and the asset itself.
The second decade will be about actually adopting that store of value globally and about utility on 2nd and 3rd layers like lightning where the lightning network as a technology completely disrupts payments around the world. If this is true then during the first decade price was solely driven by proving out a proof of concept, but bitcoins second decade between 2020 and 2030 will be people actually adopting it as a store of value as inflation around the world runs out of control, as well as the tech side of lightning completely disrupting and replacing the worlds payments industry.
I feel like things are only just beginning. Between now and 2030 bitcoin will replace gold as the worlds premier store of value asset while also simultaneously replacing the worlds payments infrastructure with the lightning network.
This would mean that today bitcoin is not only the safest investment on earth being the best store of value, but it is the one investment that has the most upside potential as it disrupts the world of payments.
