Blockchain as a tamper-proof record of historical fact?

Disclaimer - am dumb, IQ lower than a LUNC’s value dumb, this post is my offspring so also v dumb. My understanding of blockchain is not anywhere near as developed as yours

This idea may not be feasible, but I was enjoying thinking about it.

We’re lucky to live in a time with innumerable resources at our finger tips, and the best recording of historical fact in human history.

History is written by the victors - would it be feasible to store objective facts on the blockchain as a resource against historical revisionism?

The best example I can relate personally would be the Russo-Ukrainian war and the information fog around losses, war crimes, equipment and it’s origin, etc.

I’d suggest after a set window of time elapses, when independent observers are able to collate and clarify their datasets so the accepted statistics come to light - these could be then entered into the chain. For example, the facts of the 2014 Crimea stage are relatively clear now.

We already see how easily historical fact is warped and rewritten in the modern age, and this suggestion is a pie in the sky idea on one possible insurance against it. What do you guys think, this sub is full of so many really smart people it’d be great to hear your thoughts!

*final note - I am aware there would be questions over the custodian group of the chain, potential personal biases, the impact of lobbying, China’s terrifying ability to infiltrate and influence groups in their favour, etc, etc. I am not equipped to begin to think about solutions to those issues.
