Basically, publishing is the key to get your academic career rolling. That's why alot of academically active people try to publish alot of articles (papers) in high impact journals. The published paper usually gets a digital object identifier (doi) which is used a couple of years now.
Wouldn't it be better to substitute the doi with a token or NFT like application to mark ownership and identify a paper indistinguishable. Maybe this could shift the current situation in the academia to a more researcher friendly environment, since some journals don't make published articles openly accessible. Even if it's publicly funded.
Since I'm at the very beginning of my academic journey, I would like to hear your thoughts and opinions on this matter.
