BTC full node, is it worth it to invest time to learn to host a private lightning node?

Almost managed to download the entire blockchain, currently on the last percent which takes forever. Two and a half week so far ????.

I'm not sure if I should plunge head first down the rabbit hole and try to learn how to host a private lightning node. Is it complicated? Is it worth the time learning how to do it properly?

What's your experiences with lightning so far?

Anyway, it feels great to still contribute to the network with a node at least.
