Yesterday at a family reunion I happened to mention bitcoin to my adult sister. She vaguely remembered "maybe" having drunk bought some a long time ago. She had not thought of it since. This ended with us going to her place, digging out her old laptop, and finding a wallet with 0.76 bitcoin on it. I impressed on her the importance of the opsec steps we talk about here and before I left, we moved everything to her new cold storage device.
Little sis is a normie. If you had an illustration of "normie" in the dictionary, her face would be on it. She doesn't know or think about the stuff we talk about, like financial sovereignty or escaping the fiat trap. It just would never enter her pretty normie head. But once I showed what her $150 of bitcoin is worth today versus how the same $150 fiat she spent on bitcoin then has lost value today, a light bulb went off. I gave her my copy of Broken Money to complete the metamorphosis.
Moral of the story: Big brother just gave normie sister a huge pre-Christmas gift. She now has more stacked than most of us and is motivated to learn all about it. When the time was right, she finally "got" bitcoin.
