For maximalists especially, but even for those that are not, most believe the price of bitcoin will continue to rise over time. Between that and the natural limit, most people will not have more than a single bitcoin.
In addition, people have a much better sense of positive whole numbers than of fractions of 1. We recognize the difference, at a glance, between 20,000 to 200,000 to 2,000,000 a lot more easily than between 0.002 to 0.0002 to 0.00002.
I also believe there is a psychological benefit to listing in whole numbers. For example, for people already into Bitcoin, thinking "I have 2million sats" feels a lot better than saying "I have 0.02BTC." And for those not into Bitcoin, I don't know how many times I've heard something along the lines of, "Bitcoin costs $21000? I could never afford that." So instead pricing it in satoshis and saying, "$100 will buy you about 400,000 sats." seems a lot more approachable.
So while I don't have objections with sites and apps having the flexibility to list balances in BTC, I think they should default to sats to help get people accustomed to that frame of reference.
