Good afternoon r/CryptoCurrency! The latest Cointest rounds are in full swing and we wanted to bring you a few updates on recent changes we've made to improve the experience.
As a reminder, the r/CryptoCurrency Cointest is a recurring competition to crowdsource the best arguments in support of or against a crypto topic by awarding Moon prizes to the winning contestants. The end goal is to give r/CC readers a balanced source of quality information for cryptocurrency research.
Updates
Prizes
If you haven't already noticed in the pinned comments, we're now awarding 2nd and 3rd place prizes. As of a more recent change, Moon prizes will be going up 50%! 1st place will receive 300, 2nd place will receive 150, and 3rd will receive 75.
Gold, silver, and bronze trophy emojis will also be assigned to winners' text flair. However, we're unsure how long this will last given uncertainties with the InstaMod bot.
Cointest Policy Page
The policy section outlining Cointest guidelines has been overhauled and moved to its very own wiki page.
Cointest Archive
The archive has also been revamped to make it much easier to navigate by topic.
Topics are linked alphabetically in the index and the pinned pro & con comments will link to topics in this index. This lessens the monthly maintenance for the Cointest team while also letting contestants know where they can find prior or opposing threads on a topic to help refine their arguments.
New Rules
We have a new rule which allows participants to copy old arguments from prior rounds - but there are a few conditions:
1) If the original author reuses the old argument then it can't be copied by a different contestant. If, after two weeks from the start of a new round, the original author has not copied their old argument, then other contestants may use it.
2) Contestants must ping the username of the original author in the copied argument.
Team Additions
u/CryptoChief has recruited the first two administrators to help with the project, /u/MrMoustacheMan and /u/IHaventEvenGotADog.
They will be assisting with various duties such as judging, maintaining AutoMod rules, updating the archive, answering modmails at r/CointestAdmin, etc. If you're interested in joining the team, click here for details.
Reminders
If you submitted an argument over 500 characters and want to be automatically reminded of when the next round is posted for a particular category, submit a request to the r/CointestAdmin modmail and include a link to your argument.
Category Change
The General Technology category might be changed to General Ideas in September. The intention is to make it a broader category so it can cover other engaging topics like inflation, regulation, privacy, ETFs, etc. The technology topics will still be included.
Rounds Ending Soon
The soonest round to end will be this month for the Community Favorites category. Topics registered for this round are:
If you'd like to participate in this category, submit an argument before the end of the month.
If you want to request that a coin be added to the next Community Favorites round, submit a post on r/CryptoCurrencyMeta so it can be publicly discussed with the team and the community.
If you have any questions, post a comment below. Thank you for your attention.
