Congressman Tom Emmer Brings Forth Anti-CBDC Bill

So, Tom Emmer, along with 49 other folks, introduced this bill called the "CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act" in the US House of Representatives. The main idea behind this bill is to stop those "unelected bureaucrats in Washington" from creating a central bank digital currency (CBDC).

Senator Emmer is apparentally concerned about protecting Americans' financial privacy. He's worried that the government might compromise our privacy for a surveillance-style CBDC. In his words, President Biden seems willing to do this, so that's why Emmer brought this bill back.

The cool thing about this bill is that it explicitly tells the Federal Reserve that they can't give us a CBDC. According to Emmer, this prevents the CBDC from becoming a tool to collect our personal financial info or being used for monetary policy.
