Whoever started investing and trading cryptocurrencies needed a little time, effort and research to see how all this is used so as not to make a mistake.
We had to google, see how cryptocurrencies are sent, the network used, how much it costs to send, oh this is ETH, so what is the gas fee then, etc.
I wanna say that it took a little effort, for some people less, for some more time but we are all here and we all do it even though we often get anxiety attack when sending crypto and check multiple times the addresses, and not infrequently we also send a βtestβ transaction to see if it passes.
Is the traditional banking system really simple or are we used to it?
I will talk from my own experience.
When you go to open an account you have to schedule a meeting where you are greeted with a smile and a mountain of paperwork to sign. Most of the people just sign the papers, most of them don't even know what is written on those papers and what we just signed.
I want to receive money, I have to wait in line at the bank to open a foreign currency account so that I can receive money from abroad.
I lose my card or my ATM swallowed it, I have to wait in line at the bank again. It happened for the weekend, and they don't work for the weekend? Okay, wait some more.
I changed the phone, I have to reinstall the bank's mobile application, but without their support I can't get activation codes. They don't answer the phone, it's Friday, they probably don't work, although serious banks should be available on weekends as well, not just on weekdays.
I get an invitation from the bank to come and sign some more papers and there are questions: where I work, where do I live, how much is my salary, how much do I earn annually, am I a member of a political party, do I live alone or in the family etc.
I set out one day to withdraw money from an ATM, but everything is blocked. Why? Well, bank employees and their bosses have been caught stealing over 14 million euros and the whole bank is currently blocked. So, ATMs are not working and we have to wait a couple of hours or possibly a few days. Yes, this really happened.
I had an account in BoA, I moved from America, I can't get them by e-mail or phone to close my account.
What is my point: cryptocurrencies are not that complicated, only people are not well informed about their use. Nobody is showing you how to use them unless you start searching yourself. There is no support from kind people with a big smile and sea of papers to sign.
I see people around me who automatically refuse to deal with it because it's a "complicated computer thing", but here the citizens of El Salvador have more BTC wallets than bank accounts.
So you want to tell me that people from El Salvador managed to use it correctly, but my sister, brother, friend can't? Why? Are people from El Salvador more tech savy?
NO. Somebody just explained them how things work, how to use wallet and enjoy! They learned! It is not that hard.
Scan QR code, send money and you are fine. Save your seedphrase, store it somewhere safe and you are good to go. Nobody will ever ask you for your seed phrase.
So many scams wouldn't happen if only people were well informed.
Crypto is not that complicated for regular people.
