Decentralization is the idea or process where idea proposals/decision making/policy institution are moved away from a large more central group in favor of more smaller peripheral groups to prevent corruption or having one group steamroll all others. It is NOT always the answer to all of the world’s problems.
Governments/authority figures exist on a scale of pure autocracy where one person makes all the shots to having a bunch of small town mayors/governors make the policies and be responsible for their constituents in regards to the modern political power spectrum.
Many of us are here for financial decentralization where we’ve personally encountered entities or middlemen who control too much of how we use our hard earned money and I’m all for that, but I’m not like that in every aspect of philosophy.
Almost any form of federal or state government is a punching bag in this sub with a good amount of people who fancy themselves as libertarians or anarchists, but do people not realize how much better off the majority of people are now with centralized democratic governments compromising the majority of the world? Overly decentralized power structures can be easily overthrown by local elites or become so bureaucratic that getting the simplest tasks can become impossible due to disagreements. People today like to think of themselves as much different from the people who lived hundreds or thousands of years ago but honestly, we all still mainly want the same things- food, shelter, and to biologically replicate.
