We love the comparison of our crypto ecosystem to one of the most important technologies today - the internet. Because the internet is obviously very successful, creating a yearly 5.21 Trillion USD worldwide in e-commerce sales only.

We are comparing it to the early days, especially the end of the 90s, when e-commerce over the internet grew about 2 digits every year, creating new global players like Amazon, AliBaba or Google. The internet had its first Service Provider for normal citizens in 1985: “The World.”

13 years of accessible internet until 1998, 13 years of cryptocurrencies until 2022

Bitcoin became accessible for anyone with a computer and internet in 2009, wich means (accessible) crypto is 13 years old. This would place us in 1998 when we compare crypto to the early internet (coincidentially the year when I got my first connection on my 0.166 Ghz Desktop PC).

In 2002, 1 of 3 US adults had already bought somthing on the internet. We are far from that in crypto, but we have 4 years to achieve that.

I personally think that this global recession™ will actually show people how much they will need crypto. As long as the party is going on, nobody knows he'll need a bottle of water and aspirin, but ask them again when the party is over.

/update: Somebody pointed out that we could still wait for the economy crash (burst of the new economy bubble in 2000/2001). I think this happens every few years in crypto (it happened this year) due to its volatility. The comparison doesn't work 100% obviously
