DEXs are lesser known due to less marketing. New adopters are unaware of it when looking into Crypto.

Everyone says that CEXs are the perfect platforms for beginners, as it would be familiar to them coming from being a FIAT user only.

So it's always the narrative that CEXs are good for beginners while anything else, including DEXs are not, and are confusing for them.

I don't think that is the case, though. The reason no beginners are using DEXs is that they simply don't find it anywhere when they are trying to get into crypto.

Beginners are not going ahead and searching for a "CEX" or a "DEX", instead they search for "Crypto" or "How to buy Crypto" or anything along these lines.

When a beginner does a general crypto search, this is what the most probable results will be:

• A list recommending CEXs
• A CEX site.

And the first page of Google searches are usually exclusively filled with CEX site results, with no DEX.

My theory is, beginners use CEXs not because it is beginner-friendly, but because they are literally un aware of the existence of anything else.

How can this issue be fixed? Here are a couple of potential ideas I have:

• DEXs need better SEO (search engine optimization) so they at least show up on the first page of results.
• more advertising them in all forms and platforms of advertising.
• More prominent SEO-ed blogs that promote DEXs

Something else that would be a far fetch, because CEXs need profits, and they would never promote a competitor in any way:

• CEXs to clearly state and explain for EVERY signing user that their money is on a non-decentralized platform, and they don't own their crypto keys.
• CEXs to have DEXs prominently talked about and recommended to users in their crypto education programs, or their various SEO blogs that recommend you their own product.

So in conclusion I believe CEXs take the spotlight due to marketing and DEXs don't take not because of complexity but their lack of being known for the adopting user.
