Looking for any possible help to explain this here.
Here's what I was trying to do:
I had some BAT tokens (ERC-20) I was trying to convert to BNB (BEP-20) tokens using the Binance Bridge. (https://www.binance.org/en/bridge). I am a USA resident so I was using a VPN to gain access. My goal here was to get in on pancakeswap farming, but rather than buying BNB to get involved, I wanted to convert from some Ethereum tokens I'm carrying, in this case BAT.
When I went to convert the BAT tokens, it was only allowing me to convert them from ERC-20 BATs to BEP-20 BATs. I thought to myself "this is fine", I'll just place the token contract into my BSC Metamask Wallet address and it'll be good to swap into pancakeswap (CAKE) from there.
Here's what happened:
After doing this, it took the 298 BAT tokens out of my Ethereum Metamask Wallet, and sent it to an address I don't recognize. The transaction is here: https://etherscan.io/tx/0xbdeb2d22d34966d5e218bf3ed0ff1b8dbf40f9a7a184d22a61b164edf39eea70
- This is my first time doing this, and I imagine I'm a bit ignorant to it all, but, did I just accidentally give away a bunch of BAT tokens? Is there a step I have to take further? To me it looks like these are gone for good, but maybe someone here would be able to help. Thanks for any and all insight.
