Did you know that Vitalik already made fun of technical analysis 10 years ago? I fell into the rabbit hole of his account and dug up some stuff.

All Cryptocurrencies

You know what's pretty fun about crypto? Most protagonists pretty much live on the internet and have been talking about their projects online since the beginning - you've all seen those early forum posts by Satoshi Nakamoto where he talks about Bitcoin before and shortly after he introduced the world to it.

It's not just Satoshi though - Vitalik Buterin actually has a Reddit profile on which he is still active - and has been for over 10 years, he registered in December 2011 when he was 17. I stumbled about an older post of his and fell into the rabbit hole of his account for a bit, and I think it's pretty fun and interesting to look into it a bit:

10 years and a few days ago, he made a post making fun of technical analysis on r/Bitcoin, one of his first posts - and the replies look exactly like they do on TA threads today, with some people calling it 'superstition' (okay, today most people like to call it 'astrology for men') and others saying that it's totally legit. Vitalik wasn't having any of the latter ;)

In April 2012 he wrote a post about how stable BTC had become which is very funny to read in retrospect.

Then, for a while, he was mostly sharing articles about crypto he had written for Bitcoin Magazine himself, it seems he wrote about BTC and XRP a lot (which is not all that surprising, those were the huge coins back then).

8 years ago, in early 2014, he made a post titled Welcome to Ethereum, introducing r/ethereum and ETH to the world. While the few responses were mostly positive, it's kinda crazy to see the post introducing the second biggest crypto having 80 upvotes and 61 replies (with a few of those replies having been added years later).

Let me end this post with a quote from another very early post that wasn't posted by Vitalik himself, but that he commented in. The post is about the tokenomics of ETH and why the founders got 25% of the coins, to which the most popular reply by a random user was

Damn, another scamcoin. Thought this had potential, looks like it doesn't. :(

Turns out, that wasn't quite true ;). It's really interesting to be able to have a closer look at those early days without having been around back then!
