The Times Square Algorand campaign to highlight the carbon neutral nature of the Algo blockchain was disappointing at best. It wasn't really a blackout, it was only a section of the area, and it seems like the only reason it wasn't on actual earth day was because of cost.
They over promised and under delivered.
The cost to benefit ratio just doesn't make sense, or maybe the small section of billboards they purchased for the hour weren't that expensive.
I'm genuinely curious if anyone who was there and didn't already know some crypto basics really appreciated the point they were trying to make.
It feels like a dot.com moment where money is plentiful but public relation ideas are lacking which will be a problem when money is tight.
I wonder what the Algo public relations team had planned for their upcoming PR blitz after this milquetoast display
