Do not lower your standard of living to fulfill your gambling addiction

I know this is a controversial approach regarding the mindset of this sub but I’ve seen a lot of posts that not-so-jokingly supposed we all rely on ramen noodles to live by.

Don’t get me wrong here : while I understand and encourage people to quit smoking and turn that now extra money into an investment, I refuse to encourage lowering your standard of living.

As the famous sentence goes “Do not invest more than you can afford to lose”, I’d say “Do not invest money you don’t actually have”.

I know I’ll hurt some of you and I’m ready for the pitchfoks and torches, but if you don’t have enough money to eat anything else than instant ramen, grab an extra coffee here and there, go out and eventually socialize, basically have fun buying stuff that makes you happy, you don’t have enough to invest. Let alone investing in crypto.

If you’re willingly lowering your life standard to invest in crypto, you’re on the verge of gambling addiction. I’m not kidding, this can turn in a total failure if you’re overlooking emergency funds.

I may be taking jokes a bit too seriously, but I feel like some are not joking and seriously take this as a plan. IMO this is a really risky play.

Do not forget life isn’t all about making life change gains. It’s about enjoying the little pleasures you’ll find on the way. Having hobbies and passions, spending quality time with your loved ones are mandatory. You shouldn’t be putting aside every little cent you can retain from your everyday life and dump those into highly volatile assets.

If you recognize yourself in this, please take a break and enjoy life without focusing on crypto for some weeks.
