Does free eth exist

I've been around since 2012 when bitcoin was still unreasonably cheap. Ended up forgetting the wallet information and no longer had the recovery stuff to bring the wallet back to life. So as i've given up on that im mostly looking around to see of an entry way of building eth in the background so that i can afford other things past bills. Due to the job i work only being enough to pay rent and food i dont and havent had money for what seems like years now. So just trying to figure out other ways of making it work without costing me my sleep as well.
