You calculate the amount of bitcoin you receive in dollars by taking the (cost of your purchase) divided by (the market price) is (the amount of bitcoin you receive).
cost / price = amount
amount * price = cost
cost / amount = price
Satoshis are the smallest divisible unit in a single unit of Bitcoin.
₿0.00000001 = 1 Sat
and
1.00000000 = 100,000,000 Sats.
What looks like you're receiving in gains from bitcoin is actually a result of the devaluation process between the two as a ratio of one another.
Let's say I wanted to know how many Sats I would get today if I used just $1.
$1 / $22,115.55 = ₿0.00004521
₿0.00004521 = 4,521 Sats
You can prove this is true by doing the inverse of the calculation and taking the amount of bitcoin you have to get the dollar value instead.
# the exchange just rounds up to $1 when they do the calculation
₿0.00004521 * $22,115.55 = $0.9998440155
In order to get one, you would need the original full floating point number where the float represents the amount of Sats.
4.521705315942855e-05 * $22,115.55 = $1
