let's think of it like the internet. "cryptocurrencies are a scam" is like saying "websites are a scam", it's too vague to mean anything. "crypto uses too much energy" or "crypto is a ponzi" is like saying "the internet uses too much energy" or "websites are ponzis". it doesn't make any sense to us today that someone would be that vague in describing something. "business is a scam" oh really? all business?
NFTs are arguably even more infuriating. NFT means "Non-Fungible Token" that's it. It does not specifically mean anything, especially not specifically that something is a shitty piece of digital art. It can be literally anything. "NFTs are a scam" is like saying "objects are a scam", every single one is different, that's the point! some are a scam, sure, lot's are just digital property being sold, like someone selling a necklace.
basically at this point, anyone ascribing general properties to crypto as a whole is just peacocking that they don't know shit. if you don't know that some crypto's are far less energy intensive, far less decentralized, far less secure than others, that NFTs mean more than shitty JPEG art then you probably got your info from CNBC.
