As we know fees will continue to increase, at a certain point your average person will be forced off the base layer and will have to use something like Lightning (if they use BTC as a medium of exchange). However, this also means it is possible that people may have to eventually use custodial solutions if fees continue to rise. This would harm Bitcoin's decentralisation, so I was wondering if there were any solutions being worked on or planned for future where Lightning could be used in way that does not rely on a custodial wallet or potentially (but unlikely) Lightning being replaced by something that can work as a fast payment system without the downside of potentially becoming more centralised.
EDIT: I didn't make this clear but I am referring to Lightning in the future. As the network grows fees will rise with it. Eventually your average person may not be able to afford to open a channel so they have to rely on services like BlueWallet or Muun.
