Fantom Sonic upgrade - Spring 2024

Disclaimer: I am a holder of FTM, I want this post to help spread awareness of the recent developments on the FTM platform and the imminent deployment of the Sonic upgrade. I think very positive price action will accompany this upgrade, but I don't have a crystal ball.

So, the new big thing on the Fantom platform is the Sonic upgrade, which is not yet live on the main net. Testing began back in October, and we've heard nothing but positive reports. Projected deployment on the main net is set for 'spring 2024'; I've also seen April tossed around in the Discord as a probable month for main net launch.

There are three really exciting aspects of this upgrade: transaction speed (including EVM transactions), time to finality, and reduction of technical overhead to run a validator. The amount of FTM needed to run a validator also recently decreased to 50,000 from 500,000, but that was done through the governance mechanism and is not a part of the Sonic upgrade.
