Question for this group. I had a paper wallet from 2013 with an amount of BTC. Found it recently, I had written the balance on the paper too. Call this X.
Swept the wallet's private key into blockchain.com, and then I remembered the chain had split. But to my great surprise, there was 5X as much BTC in there now.
I checked the transaction history for that address and boom... somehow months later I sent another 1X of coin to the address. I'm guessing it was me at least, because who else would have sent that address money, but I don't remember doing it.
My question is: I sent it about 2X total BTC. How the heck did it end up as 5X by 2024?! My understanding of the chain split wasn't that it would change the value you have in the BTC part.
