Fricking Wallet Apps

Does anyone know of a wallet app that isn't going to get taken over or have the name and branding changed randomly?

I'm trying to get friends and family using Bitcoin but it is proving to be a real pain. I started out with the BRD wallet as it was open source and seemed to have a good reputation. Then Coinbase took it over and that was a complete disaster. The Coinbase wallet says that it stores your new seed phrase in iCloud but it hasn't done that for some people. Sometimes when the phone's OS upgrades, the wallet app is reset, some friends have reported that they can no longer access their funds because when converting from BRD to Coinbase they didn't realise the seed phrase would change AND they figured it would be in iCloud/keychain or whatever.

Luckily, so far the losses are small.
