SIM swapping is a way for someone to steal your mobile phone number. It happens when a criminal tricks your cell phone provider into transferring your phone number to their SIM card. Once a thief has stolen your phone number, stealing your identity becomes relatively easy. This is because your number is likely tied to your bank, email and social media accounts.

It really takes a couple of minutes to set up a 2FA authenticator. Don’t take unnecessary risks. Better be safe than sorry!

Pro-tip: you can backup your 2FA app by using the backup code of your 2FA app. If anything happens to your phone and you need to get into your account, these codes will be your lifeline.
